RAILWAYS AND THE NATION
The British nation needs an excellent railway system in order
to flourish and prosper.
The nation needs that facility more than any individual. Therefore
any attempt to put the railways into private ownership was doomed
to failure.
It is no good pretending that those who use the service can afford
to pay for the cost of the service, which they must have, in order
to work and create the wealth of the nation.
The railways are a national asset and it gets quite absurd when
the nation is suckered into believing it cannot afford what is essential,
and tries to resolve its financial difficulties by selling its assets.
It is even more absurd when the government denies itself the right
to create and issue the requisite money and goes cap in hand to
the money lenders and asks them to perform that ritual and also
invites the money lenders to charge the government for granting
the money lenders the legal right to counterfeit the money by sleight
of hand.
Did you feel yourself go into a spin as you read that paragraph?
That is spin with a vengeance, that is. It is the graft of sleaze
which is so spinny that even Tony Blair does not see he is being
spun.
