50 years of rising taxes in peacetime

    Dear Editor

If we go back and listen to the debate in the House of Commons, when the idea of income tax was first discussed, it was quite obvious that in those days, today's news about taxation, would have caused a riot with bloodshed. We have sunk so low into apathy on the subject, that the news is not even news. A minor item on a back page. This means we have lost our will to survive and that we are now content to succumb.

Our belly-up, pathetic acceptance of outrageous suppression, should show us very clearly how close the end of this civilisation has come. If we add to the burden of tax, the burden of debt, which we all carry, trillions of pounds of it, then it is truly remarkable the ease with which we have been manoeuvred by the money men into complete subjection, with barely a sigh of protest. The tragedy is, that if we leave waking up any longer, we shall wake out of one nightmare, into another even more vicious nightmare, from which there is no waking.
