Air Travel and Global Warming
Dear Editor
Before we can approach this subject on a rational basis, we must
restore or establish Fair Trading and leave behind commercial warfare.
Commercial warfare is caused by attempting to use debt as a means
of exchange. Having elected money as the means of exchange, in order
to advance beyond a barter system, we run into trouble when we borrow
new money into existence by asking private banks to issue new money
as credit.
Nobody can calculate the value of credit. It is pure guess work.
Gambling casinos, called money markets, come into existence and
provide a means by which the wealth created by industry, can be
creamed off by money men. People who do not lift a finger to produce
the wealth they obtain by gambling.
At lower levels of society, such behaviour is called theft. Acquiring
wealth without providing anything in exchange, not even a smile.
All is now fair in love, war and business. There is no place for
ethics in modern economics. It is when we see, that conservation
of energy and control of CO2 emissions, are matters of Ethics, that
we can bring optimum rationality to bear upon the problem.
Ethics is a luxury we impose upon our selves, in order to secure
our survival. We shall notice that our survival entails the survival
of our family, the survival of the people with whom we are interdependent,
such as our nation, the survival of the human race, of which we
are all members and the survival of Planet Earth, with its other
life forms.
Do those vapour trails in the sky, remind us all of the tons of
oxygen being burnt that we need in order to breathe. Do those mountains
of waste for which we cannot find a home, mean that we are being
profligate with the resources we all need for our survival. Send
not to ask for whom the Bell tolls, it tolls for thee. Do
we bear that in mind when we hear that millions are dying of starvation
out of our sight.
Surely it is possible for us to see that ethics are a personal
luxury we all need, for our family, our friends and for this beautiful
little Planet, that is our home. Then we can approach this subject
of air travel and its possible effect on global warming, without
passion and with calm deliberation.
