When planning a family budget you need to remember that it has to be flexible because everyone knows that things come up. It is just like when you are taking a vacation and you run into a detour or delay with traffic on the highway. You don-t typically give up and go home. You just have to learn to go around those little speed bumps, be patient and eventually you will get there. Family budgets are very similar because no matter how well you plan there are typically at least a few unexpected detours you have to learn to deal with.
If you start with small goals which can be accomplished easily so you will see the progress you are making and will not get frustrated. If you cut out all unnecessary items from your budget then you can use that money to pay off other bills. You can save your change in a jar and it makes a great emergency fund. You might be surprised how fast it adds up. Having a five year budget plan gives you something to look at which helps you to get back on track after you run into a detour.
